About Me

Hi, I'm Faeez from the sunny island of Singapore. Welcome to BitterSweetSpicy!  I'm a mother of two girls & two boys.... I'm also a primary school teacher.

I created this blog in 2011, having inspired by the beautiful food blogs that I had come across. Baking & cooking are my passion, so I thought it would be a good idea to also share the recipes & products of my passion through this blog.

I've been baking & cooking as long as I can remember. I started helping my mum in the kitchen when I was still in primary school. Without a doubt, my mum has had the greatest influence on my passion & has been the main source of  inspiration for my love for baking & cooking.

I had some formal training in baking from BITC. Before that, I had attended  many weekend baking & cooking classes organised by enterprising homemakers at their homes or community centres. Occasionally, I still go for the weekend classes, although not as often as I used to. I'm also a sucker for cooking &, especially, baking books & magazines. To date, I think I've owned more than one hundred baking & cooking books & magazines!

I hope that you'll try out the recipes that I've shared in this blog. Do follow my blog, Instagram &  FB Page for the latest updates.

Thank you.

HI! Just want to thank you for sharing your recipes. I've tried your pandan cupcakes with Swiss Meringue Gula Melaka and everyone loved it. We had a bake sale in our church and I made double the recipe and got more than 100 medium size cupcakes. I had so much praises about it. Yesterday I tried the Quiche toast and followed exactly without altering anything and it came out perfect. I also made the red velvet but used my own cheese topping recipe. The cake was delicious, it was soft and moist. Will continue to try your recipes. Thanks for sincerely sharing the recipes transparently. God bless you

Salams. I was looking for traditional Malay kuih-kuih and came across your site. I really enjoy browsing through the recipes and hopefully to make a few of them.

I am interested in making a gluten-free and wheat-free treat for my daughter's class to celebrate the upcoming Eid and I might try my hand at making a putri salat for the first time. Wish me luck!
